  1. So if the feed, events, and groups are no longer useful, what is the point of
staying on Facebook? But my point is this: We expected
them to be great. At some point around 2014-2015 they ruined the
usefulness of the feed for keeping up with your friends by switching
to a algorithmic order of posts, instead of chronologically.
They’re also more likely to talk about their happy experience with friends
and family. Facebook’s sponsorship will help us produce a greater impact as we
open up our public beta today and usher in more participants
over the coming months. On the other hand (no pun intended), the good folks at
MIT are working for a different future: One in which thermoelectric devices can harness temperature fluctuations of many kinds to produce electricity.
If we need to test our app locally after it’s gone into production we can change our
machine’s HOSTS file so that it points the production domain name
to our local system. We can set up some test accounts by going to the Roles section of our app’s Facebook page and adding some test users and we can add
as many of these as we want for our app.
